Chapter 4: The Kinetic Ledger

Time dilated. The yard transformed into a tactical grid.

Kyle reached me first, swinging a clumsy, looping right hook aimed squarely at my jaw. I didn’t retreat. I stepped inside his arc. My left forearm parried his wrist upward, deflecting the blow effortlessly, while my right palm drove upward in a devastating, open-handed palm strike to the base of his chin.

His head snapped back with a sharp crack. His brain ricocheted inside his skull, momentarily shutting off his legs. As Kyle’s knees buckled, I grabbed the collar of his shirt, using his collapsing body weight as a shield just as Brad arrived.

Brad collided with his unconscious cousin. Before Brad could untangle himself, I dropped my weight, sweeping my right shin in a brutal, low arc that connected flush with the side of Brad’s knee. The joint buckled outward. Brad shrieked, collapsing into the hydrangeas like a felled timber.

Three seconds. Three men.

The commentator on the iPad was still screaming: “AND SHE SWARMS HIM! ABSOLUTELY MERCILESS GRAPPLING DISPLAY!”

With the external threats neutralized, I turned my attention back to the primary target. Derek was just starting to gasp for air, his heavy hands pushing against the wood, trying to roll over.

I transitioned over him with the effortless fluidity of water. My left shin drove down like a steel rail directly across his upper abdomen, securing a ruthless knee-on-belly pin. I channeled my entire body mass through a three-inch contact patch against his floating ribs, pinning his massive torso completely flat to the pine planks.

Derek choked, his face turning an alarming shade of mottled purple, his fingers frantically scraping at my ankle. “You… you crazy…”

My hands moved with surgical, blinding speed.

My right hand shot downward, seizing Derek’s right wrist and driving his palm flat against the wood beside his ear. My left arm snaked beneath his massive tricep, threading through the crook of his elbow, and locked with vice-like precision onto my own right wrist.

A double-wrist figure-four lock. The Kimura.

In the realm of joint manipulation, it is an anatomical crowbar.

With zero wasted motion, I elevated his heavy elbow while driving his wrist down toward his beltline, isolating his shoulder joint into a brutal ninety-degree lever. The entire structural integrity of his rotator cuff and labrum was suddenly balanced on a razor’s edge of mechanical torque.

CREAK.

The deep, nauseating acoustic strain of the subscapularis tendon being stretched past its physiological elastic limit resonated across the silent yard.

Derek did not roar. He did not curse. The barroom brawler, the former varsity lineman, the neighborhood alpha who had bullied his younger brother for three decades, vanished into thin air.

A shrill, child-like shriek of absolute agony tore through his throat:

“AAAAAH! MY ARM! MY SHOULDER! STOP! OH GOD, PLEASE STOP!”

I leaned my torso forward by exactly one centimeter. My face was inches from Derek’s cheek, which was now pressed flat into the sawdust.

My voice was quiet, rhythmic, and chillingly calm: “Tap or snap.”

Chapter 5: The Unraveling of an Idol

Story Parts

At my in-laws’ BBQ, my brother-in-law held red-hot barbecue tongs inches from my throat, mocking: “Let’s see if the little princess flinches.” When my husband defended me, Derek hurled him violently into a 400-degree steel smoker and hissed: “Sit down, sweetheart, or you’re getting a matching burn.” They never knew I had a secret I’d buried years ago. He grabbed my wrist… and that’s when the entire afternoon shattered.
